Audemars Piguet watch honors America’s Cup champs
Le Brassus, Switzerland—Audemars Piguet has unveiled a new timepiece in recognition of the fifth year of the brand’s sponsorship of the Swiss Alinghi yachting team.
The limited-edition Royal Oak Offshore Alinghi Team Chronograph is made of a lightweight forged carbon using a process borrowed from the aeronautics industry. The watch is shock-resistant and water-resistant up to 100 meters, has a flyback chronograph function and a 10-minute countdown function made for the 11-minute America’s Cup race-start rule.
The timepiece comes in either forged carbon, in pink gold and carbon, and in platinum and carbon. Only 2,007 of the timepieces will be issued.
Audemars Piguet invited more than 50 members of the international press to Valencia, Italy, to attend the unveiling.
The brand began supporting the Alinghi yachting team in 2002. The team won the America’s Cup in 2003.
