Chanel: With the Speed of Time

If J12 line appeared owing to Jaques Elle’s interest in sailers, then J122 Superleggera originates from his interest in the romance of auto racing.

Elle says that he was so impressed by wonderful sports cars Superleggera (”Superlight”) that when he decided to replenish the collection of men watches he didn’t have any doubts of what style they should be. The exterior of the model is very similar to J12: the same design, the same black-and-white colors, the same sporty character, but there is one essential difference that is reflected in the name of the model. It is very light. The thing is that both the case and the bracelet of the J12 Superleggera are partly made of aluminum and it makes the watch about 45% lighter in comparison with a fully ceramics version.

As a matter of fact this chronograph is a maximally light-weight variant of the classical J12 that is made especially for professional racers. The watch is a success: the demand for the Superleggera is very high all over the world. The mechanism is automatic caliber ETA 2894-2.The case is circular made of aluminum and ceramics. It is 41 mm in diameter. The dial is silver with black Arabic figures. The hands and indicators are covered with a luminescent covering. The watch is 200 meters water resistant.
