Corum appoints new general manager


La Chaux-de-Fond, Switzerland—Corum Timepieces has appointed Antonio Calce its new general manager.

Calce, 40, joined the company in September 2005 as vice president of operations. Since then, he has worked to refocus the brand by developing and upgrading Corum’s watch models. He has also implemented a new internal production-level structure following the recruitment of four new heads of department to provide watch-making support.

A Swiss native, Calce brings a range of experience in watch-industry operations, including creation, after-sales service support, development, product engineering, production and sales.

Ritmo revs up with Indy sponsorship


Indianapolis—Ritmo Mundo and the Indy Car Series have signed a five-year partnership that will make Ritmo Mundo the official timepiece of the Indy Car Series and Indy Pro Series.

The deal also includes a licensing agreement for Indy Car Series-branded Ritmo Mundo watches, which may expand to include driver-branded timepieces in the future.

Under the terms of the deal, Ritmo Mundo will present a $100,000 watch to the Indy Car Series championship driver, a $25,000 watch to the Indy Pro Series championship driver and a watch to each race winner in both series.

H. Moser and Cie partners with Don FitzHenry


Schaffhausen, Switzerland—Swiss watch brand H. Moser and Cie has announced a partnership with U.S. watch veteran Don FitzHenry, giving the company a North American presence and bringing it full circle as an international brand.

The H. Moser and Cie brand, with family watchmaking roots dating back to the early 1700s, made its worldwide debut at BaselWorld 2005. In 2006, its Moser-Perpetual 1 was honored with the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie of Geneva award in the “Favorite Watch with Complication” category. Today, the brand’s most coveted collections include the Moser-Perpetual 1, the Monard Date, the Monard and the Mayu.
