Rolex Replicas
We have all heard of fake Rolexes, but there are even fake Rolex fakes. Indeed, all Rolex replicas are not created equal. There is a tremendous range in quality for the plethora of fake Rolex watches and I am sure the discussion below is guilty of oversimplifying the complexities involved.
Swiss Rolex replicas are considered top of the line replications. In fact, apparently many jewelers have trouble telling the difference between some Swiss Rolex replicas and the real deal. It is important to note that Swiss Rolex replicas are not necessarily made in Switzerland, as this designation is primarily derived from type of the “movement” inside the watch (i.e. what makes it tick - or not tick rather) and from where the majority of the other parts originate.
Japanese Rolex replicas are typically regarded as the next tier in the quality of replication. For the price you typically pay, many Japanese Rolex replicas are highly regarded. However, do not expect to fool any experts with a Japanese Rolex replica costing a few hundred dollars. Analogous to the Swiss replications discussed above, Japanese replications typically contain a Japanese movement and are composed primarily of Japanese parts.
Chinese Rolex replicas are so named because they typically contain a Chinese style watch movement system. Because the movement is less expensive and of lesser quality, the rest of the watch is typically comprised of lesser quality parts as well (i.e. you do not build a Mercedes around a Pinto engine). These Chinese Rolex replicas are typically regarded as poor replications even though they are not necessarily bad watches for how much they cost to make. With a little research, one could learn how to spot these types of low quality fake Rolexes.
The scam we all know about is for someone to try and sell fake Rolexes as though they were the real deal. This can be avoided by going directly to Rolex and letting them help you locate a reputable dealer in your area. Their website claims that genuine Rolex products are not available on the Internet.
However, perhaps a slightly less obvious and more popular scam is people trying to sell lower quality Rolex fakes as high quality replications. For example, it is very common for people to try and sell Japanese replicas as if they were Swiss replicas. Scams of this nature are abundant in the unregulated/illegal Rolex replica industry. Actually, technically speaking, the act of selling any Rolex replica can be regarded as a scam - Just ask Rolex.
