Sharapova pretty in pink with new TAG
Miami, Fla.—TAG Heuer and brand ambassador Maria Sharapova unveiled several new ladies’ timepieces in the Professional, Carrera and Formula 1 series at the Four Seasons in Miami on Saturday.
Sharapova introduced the new timepieces, saying she likes the watches because they are universal, allowing her to go from the tennis court to dinner.
Inspired by Sharapova, the 55-gram Professional Sports Watch is made of titanium and stainless steel with a super-elastic silicon strap, and can absorb up to 5,000 grams of shock. The clasp is integrated into the watch head, and the crown is placed across the dial at the 9 o’clock position instead of at the traditional 3 o’clock position.
Furthermore, the watch features an exclusive anti-fingerprint treatment on the crystal and is water-resistant to 50 meters.
The watch is available in either anthracite with a black PVD-coated titanium case, an anthracite dial with black indexes and a black silicon strap, or with a pink mother-of-pearl dial, pink silicon strap and silver hand-applied indexes.
Two dressed-up interpretations of the Carrera, first launched in 1964 as a tribute to the Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race, were also introduced. Both have a stainless steel bracelet and clasp and 13 diamonds on a black or white mother-of-pearl dial. For additional luxury, the diamond-dial Carrera (right) has a diamond-encrusted bezel set with 54 diamonds.
Both styles have a scratch-resistant sapphire caseback to view the automatic movement. The pieces are also water-resistant to 50 meters and have a safety push-button.
TAG Heurer also introduced a diamond-enhanced Formula 1 Chronograph at the event (left). The timepiece features chronograph functions accurate to 1/10th of a second. The 37mm model is embellished with 120 diamonds on the bezel and 11 diamonds on the dial. It comes with either a pink or white mother-of-pearl dial on a choice of stainless steel bracelet or textured fabric strap with folding clasp.
“More than ever, women are wardrobing with watches to express their personal style and success,” TAG Heuer North America Vice President of Marketing Jenna Fagnan said in a press release. “Whether their preference is a large, traditionally masculine piece, or a delicate, diamond-studded jewel, our customers want a beautiful, well-crafted timepiece that can be worn season after season. Our new models answer these women’s call and reflect TAG Heuer’s core values of strength, beauty, prestige and forward design.”
