The Celebration of the 175th Anniversary has Begun
The company Longines that is a part of Swatch Group, began to celebrate its 175th anniversary. The company was founded in St-Imier 175 years ago, in honour of this anniversary the museum was opened and the book about Longinesa€™s activity was published.
520 citizens work for Longines, 330 of them work at the Longines manufactory, 160 of them work up ETA movements and the rest 20 work for Balmain.
Longines - a famous Swiss company founded by Auguste Agassiz in 1832. Although Longines doesna€™t disclose its turnover, the specialists consider it to be about 250 million Swiss francs. The company produced about 34 million watches in the course of its history.
The historian Laurence Marti dated for the anniversary the publication of the book about the company. In the book he describes the history of the company, its presidents, manufactory, social atmosphere in the region during different periods of time and etc.
